WASHINGTON, DC (May 24, 2011) – PR News recognized 4GreenPs and National Children’s Center (NCC) with its Non Profit Award during its 2011 awards luncheon at The National Press Club on May 18th. The awards program, which honors the most effective non profit communications initiatives of the year, drew submissions from across the United States and Canada. The  “52 Families in 52 Weeks” campaign was honored as the best non-profit fundraising campaign of 2010.

“The ‘52 in 52’ campaign was 4GreenPs’ first development and fundraising focused client work,” said 4GreenPs CEO Lynn Anne Miller. “We’re thrilled that 4GreenPs’ debut in the non-profit development sector won PR News’ top honor, and we’re indebted to the incredible support of the respitality campaign’s many sponsors and the wonderful people at NCC.”

The award honors NCC’s  “52 Families in 52 Weeks” fundraising campaign, which provides caregivers with respitality – a weekend break from the demands of caring for a loved one with special needs such as Down Syndrome and autism. The campaign, kicked off during the recession of 2010, succeeded in its goal of doubling the number of families served and increasing funds raised by 71%.

“The results bucked the national norm,” wrote PR News. “In the first 10 months of 2010, 68% of health nonprofits reported donations either decreased or remained at 2009 levels.”

The following finalists were recognized with Honorable Mentions in the PR News Non Profit Awards Fundraising category included: Cone on Behalf of Lindt USA for its Lindt Gold Bunny Celebrity Auction in support of Autism Speaks;  MusiCares 20th Anniversary Campaign focused on the business and artist sides of the music industry; and Howard Brown Health Center and Public Communications Inc for its Creating a Lifeline for LGBTQ Health Center, which raised $500,000 in 50 days to keep the Chicago health clinic afloat.
